AGSA Eligibility Determination

  1. The South San Joaquin Irrigation District, the City of Ripon, and the City of Escalon are members of the South San Joaquin Groundwater Sustainability Agency. The South San Joaquin Irrigation District manages surface water delivery systems within the boundary area and has a history of regional groundwater recharge. The Cities of Ripon and Escalon each have land use authority and manage municipal groundwater resources for their respective service areas. Thus, each member of the South San Joaquin Groundwater Sustainability Agency is a public agency with water supply and management responsibilities and therefore qualifies as an agency eligible to form a GSA under the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA).
