Other
Groundwater extraction for this Annual Report was estimated using the SPV Groundwater Model, by repeating simulated groundwater pumping for previous water years with a similar water year type. The SPV Groundwater Model used climatic information, crop demands, and estimates of shallow groundwater uptake to compute groundwater extraction estimates for agricultural uses.
Analysis was conducted to find the most appropriate proxy year in the recent model period (as identified in the GSP) based on precipitation data compiled from the PRISM dataset. WY 2023 experienced 25.6 inches of precipitation, with the most similar precipitation experienced in WY 2005 of 27.6 inches. Therefore, model results from WY 2005 have been used as a proxy for WY 2023 for this Annual Report, and both years are considered wet. These estimates are considered to have a qualitative, medium-level of accuracy because they are estimated from previous groundwater modeling. These estimates will be updated in the 5-year GSP update as more data becomes available and can be used to update the accuracy of the model.

D Total Water Use
Total Water Use (AF)

Methods Used to Determine
Groundwater production data and pumping estimates were based on modeled estimates for similar water year types. In addition, a small amount of water is imported from the City of Escondido and one agricultural parcel is irrigated with groundwater from a well outside the Basin (see Appendix I of the GSP).
