AGSA Eligibility Determination

Provide a description of your local agency's water supply, water management, or land use responsibilities within the groundwater basin / basins you intend to manage.
Per Section �10723.8(a) of the California Water Code, the Santa Ynez River Water Conservation District (SYRWCD), the City of Buellton (City) and the Santa Barbara County Water Agency (County Water Agency) ( "CMA Agencies") formed the Central Management Area Groundwater Sustainability Agency (GSA) for the Central Portion of the Santa Ynez River Valley Basin (Basin Number 3-015, DWR Bulletin 118). The CMA Agencies are the only public agencies in the CMA GSA, as defined by SGMA, eligible to form a GSA. The CMA GSA is a multi-agency GSA with boundaries that follow the entire Central Portion of the Santa Ynez River Valley Basin, as defined by the 2016 version of DWR Bulletin 118. On November 28, 2023, the CMA Agencies entered into a Joint Exercise of Powers Agreement for the Central Management Area. This Joint Powers Agency (?JPA?) shall hereinafter be known as the Santa Ynez River Valley Groundwater Basin Central Management Area Groundwater Sustainability Agency. This JPA replaces the agency formed under Memorandum of Agreement dated January 11, 2017. The new agency will be known as "the Santa Ynez River Valley Groundwater Basin Central Management Area Groundwater Sustainability Agency".
