Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) Portal

The Carpinteria Groundwater Sustainability Agency (Agency) is a joint powers authority comprised of the following four local public agencies: Carpinteria Valley Water District, City of Carpinteria, County of Ventura, and Santa Barbara County (Santa Barbara County Water Agency). The boundaries of these local agencies and the Agency are shown in the map uploaded below. The City of Carpinteria is a local municipality that exercises water management and land use authority within the city?s boundaries. Both counties exercise water management and land use authority within lands overlying the Basin. The Carpinteria Valley Water District was formed in 1941 pursuant to Water Code Section 31000 et seq. (County Water Districts) and has water supply authority as well as has manages groundwater in the basin under the authority of AB3030 since 1994.
