AGSA Eligibility Determination

  1. The City of San Luis Obispo has formed a Groundwater Sustainability Agency consistent with the City limits over that portion of the San Luis Obispo Valley Groundwater Basin. The water supply for the City of San Luis Obispo comes from three surface water reservoirs outside the groundwater basin (Nacimiento Reservoir, Salinas Reservoir and Whale Rock Reservoir). The City also receives water from groundwater produced inside the City limits and utilizes recycled water for non-potable purposes. Land use and water management authority is provided by the City of San Luis Obispo.

  1. The City intends to engage in an open, collaborative, and inclusive process to work cooperatively with stakeholders to develop and implement a GSP or multiple GSPs for the San Luis Obispo Valley Groundwater Basin and will maintain a list of interested parties to be included in the formation of the GSP(s). The City intends to work with County of San Luis Obispo, Golden State Water Company, Edna Ranch Mutual Water Company - East, Varian Ranch Mutual Water Company, and Edna Valley Growers Mutual Water Company to prepare a GSP or GSPs that would incorporate all of the San Luis Obispo Valley Groundwater Basin. The City has held outreach meetings and worked with the County of San Luis Obispo to create the attached stakeholder's list.
