AGSA Eligibility Determination

  1. The County of Tuolumne is responsible for land use planning including the issuance of well permits for groundwater extraction in the unincorporated portions of the County. However, the County is not a water purveyor as that responsibility falls to water districts located within the County. Water supply in the County varies. A portion of the population receives water services from water districts whereas others receive water from private wells or other sources.

  1. There are no other agencies currently managing groundwater in the area the Tuolumne Groundwater Sustainability Agency will be managing. The remainder of the Modesto Sub-basin found outside Tuolumne County's jurisdiction is managed by the Stanislaus and Tuolumne Rivers Groundwater Basin Association GSA.
