4. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF POTENTIAL BASIN BOUNDARY MODIFICATION REQUEST
  • Inyo County and the Mono County Tri Valley Groundwater Management District are considering requesting that the Owens Valley Groundwater Basin (6-12) be divided into two subbasins, one containing the Owens Valley and one containing Chalfant, Hamill, and Benton valleys. The scientific basis of the request is the presence of a barrier to groundwater flow between Chalfant and Owens valleys. The revised boundary also has the jurisdictional expediency of separating the Inyo County and Mono County portions of the basin.
