4. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF POTENTIAL BASIN BOUNDARY MODIFICATION REQUEST
  • UPDATED 5/2/18- The San Benito County Water District (District) has indicated its interest in consolidation of the three Subbasins of the Gilroy-Hollister Groundwater Basin (Bolsa, San Juan, and Hollister) and Tres Pinos Valley Groundwater Basin. This consolidation into one basin would streamline the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) process and improve groundwater management efficiency. The San Benito County Water District Board passed Resolution 2018-05 to formally initiate the proposed basin boundary modification request to consolidate these four basins. The meeting was held on April 25, 2018 and publicly noticed in the Hollister Free Lance on two occasions. The District has been successfully managing groundwater in these basins for decades and is committed to maintaining groundwater sustainability. The District has a Memorandum of Understanding with Santa Clara Valley Water District to work together to address the small area of these subbasins that extend into Santa Clara County.
