4. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF POTENTIAL BASIN BOUNDARY MODIFICATION REQUEST
  • Carpinteria Valley Water District is proposing this technical basin boundary modification to update the existing boundary so that it follows updated geologic mapping of the contact between Quaternary unconsolidated sediments that comprise the aquifers of the basin and the Tertiary formations that underlie the Carpinteria Groundwater Basin. The DWR Bulletin 118 description of the lateral extents of Carpinteria Groundwater Basin is inconsistent with the District’s definition of the lateral extents of the Carpinteria Groundwater Basin as defined in the District’s AB3030 Groundwater Management Plan as well as more recent published geologic studies. This modification, which would impact small areas along northern and eastern basing boundaries, is proposed so that SGMA in the Carpinteria Groundwater Basin will be implemented using the best available science.
