C
Surface Water Use
Reporting Period
From 10/01/2023 To 09/30/2024
Surface Water Supply (AF)
Method used to determine
For WY 2024 surface water supply was estimated by the SVIHM as 29,520 AF. A drought emergency curtailment order went into effect for the growing season of 2024, but this curtailment is not considered to have significantly reduced the amount of surface water use compared to the full allocation of previous years. Surface water diversion was used for groundwater recharge in WY2024, with 2,540AFdiverted for recharge.

E
Change in GW Storage
Reporting Period
From 10/01/2023 To 09/30/2024
Change in storage (AF)
Method used to determine
This represents the groundwater storage change in WY 2024 (October 1, 2023 - September 30, 2024). The value is calculated by the Scott Valley Integrated Hydrologic Model (SVIHM, https://agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1029/2018WR024209) baseline simulation. This new approach is used to unify the storage change estimates of the GSA annual report and this adjudicated report, In past adjudicated zone report, groundwater storage change was reported for the April 1 - March 31 period, based on the average spring-to-spring groundwater level change (see methods description of past reports). Due to the change in accounting period, this value cannot be added to the values for previous reports. To add this storage change to that reported previously, the storage change for the period from April 1 to September 30, 2023 would need to be added. For 2026, a revised calibrated SVIHM model is expected for computation of annual groundwater storage changes. We will then include a retro-spective update of groundwater storage for water years 2015 through 2024.
