4. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF POTENTIAL BASIN BOUNDARY MODIFICATION REQUEST
  • The Devils Den Water District overlies the San Joaquin Valley Pleasant Valley and Kern County sub basin boundary. The boundary between the two basins is currently the county line separating Kern County from Kings County. The 1:250,000 Bakersfield portion of the Geological Atlas of California (1964) suggests it may be more technically correct to describe the entire Devil's Den area as within the Kettleman Plain and McClure Valley, and not part of the Antelope Plain to the south. The Agency is investigating proposing a technical modification to the basin boundary that would move the basin boundary from the Kern/Kings county line to a location further south, and a jurisdictional boundary that would result in reclassifying the basin beneath Devil's Den in Kern County as a low priority basin.
