4. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF POTENTIAL BASIN BOUNDARY MODIFICATION REQUEST
- The proposed boundary modifications are shown in the attached maps: Preliminary Map of Proposed Jurisdictional and Scientific Las Posas Basin Boundary Modifications, with Topographic Base; and Preliminary Map of Proposed Jurisdictional and Scientific Las Posas Basin Boundary Modifications, with Aerial Photo Base. The proposed modification of the shared boundary between the Las Posas Valley Basin and the Pleasant Valley Basin is to follow the Springville fault (western segment of the Simi-Santa Rosa fault) as shown on attached map with United States Geological Survey (USGS) topographic base and Quaternary faults. The proposed modification of the western boundary of the Las Posas Valley Basin, shared with the Oxnard Subbasin is jurisdictional generally following parcel boundaries. The proposed western boundary modification extends northward from the western end of the Springville fault following the topographic change in slope associated with the Wright Road fault while also respecting the integrity of property lines by generally following parcel boundaries and maintaining groundwater wells with the land served until it connects with the northern boundary of the Las Posas Valley Basin. The purpose of the proposed boundary modification is to improve groundwater management by ensuring that prevailing groundwater use patterns within this transitional zone between the two basins are managed holistically by preventing the severing of wells from land served.
