4. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF POTENTIAL BASIN BOUNDARY MODIFICATION REQUEST
  • Siskiyou County Flood Control and Water Conservation District is applying for a scientific and jurisdictional boundary line modification to the Shasta Valley Subbasin (1-004). There is community support, hydrologic reports, and technical documentation that support?s the link between portions of the Pluto?s Cave Basalt and the Debris flow regions that contribute to groundwater and surface water/groundwater interaction in the current Shasta subbasin. The current boundary as defined under Bulletin 118 does not adequately address the overall hydrology of the Shasta Valley subbasin and modifying to the proposed boundary would allow the GSA to develop and implement a more substantive, accurate and sustainable GSP for all of its watershed stakeholders. The proposed boundary line will follow an impartial line via alluvium deposit boundary according to the 2010 California Geological Map, Shasta watershed subregion boundaries, and the roadways of Interstate 5, Hwy 97, County road A12, and Harry Cash road. The proposed basin would encompass a larger majority of the Shasta Valley groundwater use, groundwater recharge through flood irrigation, interconnected streams, and key Shasta groundwater regions.
